Food for thought to black folks on the 4th

“I love America more than any other country in this world, and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually.” J. Baldwin
I happen to run across this oration from Frederick Douglass to give meaning at that time for blacks in American and Independence Day. We have soo much right inspite of our history to celebrate what black America has done for this country, even though I feel at times we aren’t appreciated for it.
Just like I did last year let me post two fitting videos that put my love and respect for this country in perspective with a soulful twist…
Happy 4th of July!!

Inspite of the obstacles and division in our country currently, I consider myself as a Black American Woman very blessed and proud to be apart of the American fabric of our society!! America is a great country, inspite of its issues and rough history because of it’s diverse people. Don’t let them right wingers distort THE REAL AMERICA of DIVERSE THOUGHT AND PEOPLE, PARTICULARLY PEOPLE OF COLOR who helped make it!! Take some time to think of the soldiers who aren’t with family and friends this time and who are serving in difficult times with pride and duty!! Have a blessed and safe July 4th with friends or family!!!
