PREACH MY CAUCASIAN SISTER!!

Two Men who were able to “Think Different” left their mark on society

iSad

On Wednesday we loss both Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth at age 89 and former Apple CEO Steve Jobs at 56. Both men changed America in their own way. Rev. Shuttlesworth fought for my life to be better as a civil rights activist and the ability for myself and other blacks and people of color to have a better life and be treated with dignity. His history and legacy of what he has done should always be admired.

Steve Jobs was the genius behind Apple with the computer he helped create along with Steve Wozniak in a garage in the mid 70′s. From there in the 80′s was the creation of the Apple Computer and it’s introduction into the world of all the various innovations of Macbook, IPod, IPhone and IPad some 20+ years later. Jobs always pushed himself to be and “Think Different” on how we look at technology and basically how we do things.

I have nothing but admiration, love and respect for both men in the way they helped shaped American life and made it just a little better! God bless them both!

Here is the FULL SEGMENT of the commencement speech Steve Jobs did in 2005…

How I feel about the movie “The Help”

Shout out to Professor Melissa Harris Perry on the August 10, 2011 segment The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell summing up to the T my thoughts on this flick. I have no desire to see this movie! I keep wondering is there a middle ground to work with for images of positive regular black women to be shown on screen that falls somewhere between historical aspect of the black women on “The Help” and current tv images of black women on Basketball Wives, Real Housewives ATL and Single Ladies! That’s all I ask!!

I truly respect the history it portrays of black women being maids and taking care of the white families in the south during the era where that was the main job for them. But it isn’t a history that is painted as happy go luck either during Jim Crow era especially! I truly get sick and tired of pandering movies like this that are those “feel good flicks” with happy ending and it’s mixed with a historical timeframe in which it wasn’t really all to the good the lives of black women back then. But I digress. Please listen to what Professor Harris-Perry says!

I am also soo glad to read posts such as Armond White’s review and this one from Jack & Jill Politics that support my views as well!! Included with one of the posts is a letter from the Association of Black Woman Historians!

No words for this MLK speech…

I wonder what he would think about the changes made since his passing and those who praise his “I Have A Dream” speech and the those that have folks to be “judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin” who want to do away with things that impact those that have not folks.  I think he would be very disappointed to see people (especially black folks)not exercise their right to vote and not giving a shit on these assholes who want to make the lives of people worse (by cutting back funding for services) that’s for DAMN SURE!
